Hello everyone

Been looking on dvla to see if I need to declare knee replacement to them, I don't...only if I change to a mobility car.

My question is: do I need to declare knee replacement to car insurance?

What's your suggestions or experiences?

Thank you all.
Have a lovely sunday.

Jane

Haven't a clue sorry, never even thought about it.
Wouldn't really have thought so, unless we also have to declare just having R.A. since that alone has caused me a lot of probs.
Our vehicle is a growlings converted Fiat, to carry my scooter. I declared this on insuring with FISH who specialise in this type of vehicle but no one asked why we have it or what is wrong.
I presume they wont let you drive until fairly fit.
Hopefully someone else will have a better idea.

If you are not safe to drive, your Dr has to inform the DVLA. So I imagine the insurance co assume if there was a health problem affecting your driving you would've had your licence withdrawn. It wouldn't hurt to ring and ask them - better to disclose unnecessary info that to have a claim denied for non disclosure

Hi Jane - not sure about car insurance - I haven't needed to contact them. However, we have an all in one travel insurance policy that covers the whole family wherever and whenever we go away and I had to notify them that I have RA. THey asked me a few questions and charged me an extra premium but it's still more cost effective than having to buy a separate travel cover everytime one of us goes away - but then there are 6 of us and my hubbie loves travelling and he'd be gutted if we couldn't simply be up and off every couple of months! Usually just a long weekend but we're planning a major trip next year .....

Anyway that's another story - you are a perfect patient Jane because you're so thorough in checking all the details - don't get too bogged down though. Try and keep it all in perspective and remember lots of people have gone through this before and the vast majority are totally successful - we know that because the NHS wouldn't keep offering treatments if they weren't successful for most people. It's wonderful to have your little daughter to keep you grounded - children are so resilient and adaptable!

Best wishes - Sylvia xx
